Warmest wishes and thanks, David Kilgour 9. (OTTAWA, Sunday, May 03, 2015) The Vietnamese Canadian Federation on Sunday honoured the Hon. Deepak Obhrai, P.C., M.P. with the VCF Award 2015. The citation read: “In recognition of your dedication to the Vietnamese Canadian Community.” Mr. Obhrai visited Vietnam on three occasions, including one with the Governor General of Canada. During these visits, Mr. Obhrai raised human rights issues with the Government of Vietnam. “Forty years ago, many Vietnamese people left their shores and embarked on a perilous journey by sea in search of a peaceful and happy life. Today, Vietnamese-Canadians have emerged as an integral part of the Canadian multicultural mosaic. I am honoured to have received this award and look forward to working with the community,” Mr. Obhrai said. |
