Three memorable days in the National Capital
Dear fellow advocates,

Happy New Year!

We are already in 2015. It's hard to believe, isn't it?

So we are only five months away from the three big days of June: Thursday the 18th - Saturday the 20th.

On June 18 we aim to mount the largest ever Vietnam Advocacy Day with the participation of 1,000 advocates coming from all over the country. Our goal is to push for human rights and democracy in Vietnam.

As you have already done advocacy work in past years, we need you to come back and guide first-timers. Please register early at: http://www.cfdvn.org/?page_id=84

Once you have registered, we will work with you to immediately get your members of Congress to support our advocacy campaign, and to schedule meetings with them. We will also send instructions for you to get ready and prepare your local delegations for the visit to Congress in June.

On June 19 we will celebrate 40 years of the Vietnamese American history at the Kennedy Center. Yes, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. On that occasion we will thank America, pay tribute to Americans who served in the Vietnam War and, most important, honor members of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN). This will be the first time ever the Vietnamese community holds an event at this top-of-the-nation cultural center. Tickets will be available starting Feb 15. However, you can already participate in the honoring activity: Please take time to honor a loved one who served in ARVN or in any other way defended the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam) at: http://www.ourjourneytofreedom.org/nomination-form/

Saturday June 20 will feature the second National Summit of Vietnamese American Leaders and, in the evening, the Heritage Banquet to mark BPSOS' 35 years of service.

Please save the date for these three memorable days in June and get the words out. The Save The Date postcard is available at: https://democraticvoicevn.wordpress.com/wp-admin/upload.php?item=2956; https://democraticvoicevn.wordpress.com/wp-admin/upload.php?item=2957

And, please help us to disseminate the announcement below. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Nguyen Dinh Thang, PhD

Looking for filmmakers to collaborate on Kennedy Center event

We are looking for filmmakers to each develop a 2-minutes biographical video from existing script, clips and photos for presentation at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on June 19. The event, titled "Our Journey to Freedom," will celebrate 40 years of the Vietnamese American history.

We will select seven (7) individuals and one (1) agency to honor.  Each honoree will be introduced with a biographical video.

In addition, we will need two videos to accompany the American national anthem and the (South) Vietnamese national anthem.

This is a great opportunity for film producers to showcase their work and get name recognition at this top-of-the-nation cultural center. The successful candidates will be featured in event-related publications and advertisements, and will receive a ticket to attend the event. The videos shall be completed by March 15, 2015.

If interested, please contact bpsos@bpsos.org.
