 At 4pm on Saturday May 26, I will be walking 5km in the Ottawa Race Weekend to raise funds for the Marion Dewar Scholarship Fund (MDSF), and I'd like to invite you to join me. If you aren't able to join me in the walk, please consider making a contribution. I am part of a dedicated team of OCISO (Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organization) "Run for a New Start" volunteers who are raising funds for the MDSF, named in honour of the late Marion Dewar, former Mayor of Ottawa. As a Founding and Executive Member of the MDSF it has been a privilege to assist students in reaching their educational potential. This is the 10th Anniversary of the MDSF. To date, the generosity of donors has provided 17 deserving student recipients with scholarships. Every year an MDSF scholarship of $1500 each will be awarded to 3 immigrant or refugee youth here in the Ottawa area.
