 Kính thưa quý vị Như quý vị đã theo dõi tin tức từ mấy ngày qua các đài truyền hình và truyền thông, một trận động đất khủng khiếp đã xảy ra ở Nepal. Số người thiệt mạng đã lên đến hơn 5000 và có thể nhiều hơn nếu như nhiều nạn nhân không được cứu kịp ra khỏi đống gạch đá khổng lồ. Cả thế giới đã bàng hoàng nhìn cảnh điêu tàn đổ nát ở những thành phố như Kathmandu, số người chết quá nhiều và lễ hỏa táng cũng đã diễn ra không ngừng. Người sống sót thì sống trong cảnh màn trời chiếu đất hay sống chen chút trong những căn lều dựng tạm bởi các cơ quan từ thiện. Mối đe dọa trầm trọng nhất là bệnh tật có thể khởi phát và lan truyền bất cứ lúc nào. Chính phủ Canada đã chuẩn bị để gửi đi những đoàn cứu trợ cũng như cung cấp những thứ cần dùng hằng ngày cho dân chúng tại đây. Là cộng đồng người Việt tỵ nạn chúng ta không khỏi bùi ngùi nhìn những cảnh tượng đã và đang xảy ra cho người dân vô tội tại đó. The number of victims is over 5000 and might be even more if those trapped under are not rescued on time. The whole world is shocked by the destruction scenes in cities such as Katmandu. Too many deaths and the cremations are continuous. Those who survived live without a roof or are crammed in temporary shelters erected by the humanitarian organizations. The worst threat is the spread of disease in such conditions. The Canadian government is preparing to send rescue teams and provide basic goods for the population there. As a community of refugees, we are saddened by such disaster and the situation of these innocent people. The Vietnamese Canadian Community of Ottawa calls upon the generosity of all Vietnamese, to contribute to the Canadian Red Cross' fund for Nepal earthquake victims. Le nombre de victimes dépasse 5000 et ce nombre peut monter si les personnes enfermées sous les décombres ne sont pas secourues à temps. Le monde entier est bouleversé par les scènes de destruction dans des villes comme Katmandou. Il y a trop de morts et les crémations ne s'arrêtent pas. Les survivants vivent dehors ou dans des abris temporaires érigés par les organisations humanitaires. La pire menace est la transmission des maladies dans de telles conditions. Le gouvernement canadien se prépare à envoyer des équipes de secours et des denrées alimentaires pour ces populations. En tant que communauté de réfugiés, nous sommes attristés par ces désastres et ces victimes innocents.
