May 15, 2018 Dear Friends, The Vietnamese Canadian Community of Ottawa proudly presents the Institute Civic Education in Viet Nam during the Special Cultural Day that will take place on Saturday June 16th 2018, from 10:30am to 4pm, at Somerset West Community Health Centre 55 Eccles St, Ottawa, ON K1R 6S3. The schedule of the Special Cultural Day is as follows: In the morning session, there will be a presentation and a workshop by guest speakers Dr. AnhLan P. Nguyen, Director of Development and Marketing Institute for Civic Education in Vietnam, and Ms. Judy Trinh, a reporter for CBC News in Ottawa. The theme of the presentation is Emotional Intelligence: A key to success in both personal and professional life. The morning presentation will be in English. Dr. AnhLan P. Nguyen is a well-known community activist. She has been actively involved with the Vietnamese Youth Center of Toronto, Canada; the National Youth Leadership Development Camp “Len Duong” for young community activists from across USA and Canada for the last 25 years. She believes that the future of the Vietnamese Community is in the hands of the next generation. Ms. Judy Trinh is an award winning broadcast journalist based in Ottawa. She has been nominated for a Canadian Screen Award and a Gemini for her work in broadcast journalism, as well as a National Magazine Award for feature writing. Her family’s story of escaping from Viet Nam is also the inspiration for a Heritage Minute on the “Boat People” which commemorated Canada's humanitarian effort on its 150th birthday. The afternoon session will be hosted by Dr. Duy-Truong Nong. We will also introduce Professor Khanh-Hoan Do from Toronto, and Professor Luong-Ngoc Tran from Ottawa. Professor Khanh-Hoan Do will present several of his translation works such as: Dialogues by Plato (5 books), Politics by Aristotle, Ethics by Aristotle... Professor Luong-Ngoc Tran will present: The Future of Freedom by Fareed Zakaria. The afternoon presentation will be in Vietnamese.
